The north side of the Village is bordered by FM 1488 and the Jones State Forest. This state park is a 1,733-acre birdwatcher's haven and home to more than 150 species. From the endangered Red Cockaded Woodpecker to the dainty Winter Wren, this state forest is a great place for a nature hike. There are also three Village parks within the community that feature large swimming pools; Alden Bridge Park, Lakeside Park and Windvale Park. WindvaIe Park also features a serene butterfly garden, a "keep your catch" fishing pond, surrounded by a pleasant jogging trail. Scenic Lakeside Park is a large recreational area that overlooks Bear Branch Reservoir and has a kayak and canoe launch for those interested in venturing out on the reservoir. Alden Bridge Park is alongside of the namesake Alden Bridge and has tennis and basketball courts along with several sports fields. Smaller neighborhood parks and playgrounds are located throughout the housing area of Alden Bridge.
