Heart disease is the number one illness that kills Americans each year. Heart disease is also the number one most preventable cause of death. Some of the common factors that lead to the development of heart disease, aside from genetics, are diet and exercise. Today many of us are living busy lifestyles between work and family alone. Fast food restaurants are on just about every corner you drive or walk by offering the utmost convenience.

The American Heart Association was created in 1924 and has become one of America’s largest and oldest organizations focused on battling heart disease and stroke! The AHA offers endless volunteer opportunities and programs to help those living with heart disease. The AHA has local offices across the nation, our local AHA is the Montgomery County office. This Saturday, the Montgomery County American Heart Association is hosting their annual Montgomery County Heart Walk at Northshore Park! The Montgomery County Heart Walk is a family-friendly 5K and spread awareness of heart disease. More than 50 organizations and companies participate with family and friends of those who lost their battle with heart disease or suffered a stroke and survivors of heart disease and stroke. One of those organizations that will be sponsoring the Montgomery County Heart Walk is the Wilona Dyson Charitable Foundation started here at Keller Williams Realty The Woodlands and Magnolia! The Wilona Dyson Charitable Foundation is an organization who raises money to help other realtors and real estate industry professional in times of need. This year will be Wilona Dyson Charitable Foundation’s first time sponsoring the event! After the initial walk, there will be booths set up to learn more information about the sponsors and about what you can do to prevent heart disease!
